BabySaster: Lolita Guitar Project is a guitar player solo project.
Combining guitar virtuoso style with the sound of baroque and romantic music, BabySaster makes debut on the music scene with a cute look inspired by gothic lolita fashion, with an iconic and mysterious image.
Guitarist, pianist and producer, BabySaster blends modern styles of Metal with the sweet harmonies of Classical music.
BabySaster starts working on “Lolita Guitar Project” at the beginning of 2017, publishing guitar cover videos on YouTube, building up experience and fan base before releasing the first single “Suite Gothique:Toccata”.

Hello, thank you so much for this interview. I had a good time!
Tell us a bit about yourself! What does your name mean? Your career as a great skilled guitar woman!
BabySaster:
This project was born with the intention of combining Metal music focused on the Guitar with an elegant lolita style aesthetic, in particular gothic lolita fashion. I wanted to bring these two things together to create a nice contrast.
My name is the combination of the words 「baby」 and 「disaster」 to emphasize the idea of contrast.
Japan, is characterized by having super Metal and Rock bands in general, but especially in the guitar, Tell us about that great gift!
BabySaster:
I think there are amazing musicians all over the world! Speaking of Rock and Metal music, I believe that a part of the Japanese audience is more open to listening to extreme sounds and to seeing music as a true art form, that is, an expression of human emotions, rather than a product to be consumed or which follows commercial trends.
What are your musical influences? Classical musical is the great influence noticeable, some heavy bands within Rock and Metal? Any favorite guitarist for you?
BabySaster:
My influences start from Classical music, I have always been fascinated by the pure sounds of music that goes from the beginning of 1600 to 1900, so Baroque, Classical and Romantic music. On the other hand, I love the sound of electric guitar and Metal.
I think Classical music and Metal are similar in some ways, and their blending, as in symphonic Metal, is almost always captivating.
My favorite Classical musicians are Masaaki Suzuki, Ton Koopman, Leo van Doeselaar, Claudio Abbado, Trevor Pinnock, they certainly inspired me and made me fall in love with music even more.
Speaking of Rock and Metal, my influences are many and different, starting with the great bands of the 70s like Deep Purple, Black Sabbath, Genesis and Emerson, Lake & Palmer.
Marty Friedman is without a doubt my favorite guitarist, his style is so unique. I love how he manages to combine jazz phrasing, Japanese scales and Rock riffing!. I love Yngwie Malmsteen too, he is a terrific guitarist, his vibrato, phrasing, songwriting skills are top notch. Plus he's a great live performer.
Other favorites of mine are 麗 (uruha) from the GazettE and 大和 (Yamato) from DOPEDOWN, and others like Stevie Ray Vaughan, Allan Holdsworth, Greg Howe, George Lynch, Eric Johnson, and I could go on and on...
Now if you tell us about the creation and production of your album Requiem, K626? Classical inspiration and symphonic opera?
BabySaster:
I wanted to create an appropriate homage to Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart. The idea was very ambitious, to arrange the great Requiem K626 in Metal version. The first year of work was spent working on the production of the orchestral parts, then it was time to find the right opera singers and create the drums, bass and guitar parts, totally respecting Mozart's score.
The last guitar tracks were recorded almost two years after the start of the work, it was a long time but also fun and I learned a lot of things from this experience.
Your new album has excellent guests! Have you thought about making more combinations like this later?
BabySaster:
They did an amazing job singing on the album, I'm so happy! Certainly there will be other collaborations like this in the future.
How about the collaborations with Paola, Eliana, Ricardo and Marco Rellisan?
BabySaster:
Thanks to the help of Riccardo Cecchi, we have selected the other opera singers who participated in the project, Paola Tiraferri, Eliana Sanna and Marco Rellisan. They are all professional singers, some of them have collaborated with famous projects and bands. I am so pleased with their work, and so happy!
Previous singles like 蛍(Hotaru) have excellent chords, very melodic and elegant, and Lux in Tenebris dramatic and dark! Fantastic chords! Tell us a little about the composition of both?
BabySaster:
Each of my compositions is born after an experience I had and the concept that I want to transform into emotions. With 「蛍」 (Hotaru) I wanted to introduce some sounds of traditional Japanese music in an emotional and melodic song. In 「Lux in Tenebris」 I focused on darker atmospheres with the help of the full orchestra. The whole middle part of the song is in neo-gothic style with very special chord progressions!
Your musical style is beautiful, classical music as a base and great Rock and Metal elements! Goth Metal also has influences within Symphonic Black Metal, would you like to try something with this style?
BabySaster:
Thank you for the compliment! Symphonic Black Metal is a style that I appreciate because of the dark mood that the orchestra gives it, I would like to explore this style in the future.
Have you performed in some places in Japan? Or at some online event?
BabySaster:
BabySaster: Lolita Guitar Project hasn't performed live yet, I would love to do it, both in an online event and in person.
As an independent artist I congratulate you on doing a good job! Another point that draws my attention is that the simple ムーンライト伝説 (Moonlight Legend) It's about Sailor Moon, a good period animated series in many parts of the world, do you like any other anime? Would you do any other similar single or EP?
BabySaster:
Thank you! I really enjoyed playing the cover of 「ムーンライト伝説」 in a guitar duet with Reina, she is very good and did a great job! I like a lot of Anime songs, it would be fun to play more of them.
Do you have any production in progress? any new video?
BabySaster:
I am working on a lot of things, mainly my full album of original songs focused on guitars, and there will be other collaborations. Can't say more at the moment.

BabySaster:
Este proyecto nació con la intención de combinar la música Metal enfocada a la Guitarra con una estética elegante estilo lolita, en particular la moda gótica lolita. Quería juntar estas dos cosas para crear un buen contraste. Mi nombre es la combinación de las palabras 「bebé」 y 「desastre」 para enfatizar la idea de contraste.

Cada una de mis composiciones nace de una experiencia que tuve y del concepto que quiero transformar en emociones. Con 「蛍」 (Hotaru) quería introducir algunos sonidos de la música tradicional japonesa en una canción emotiva y melódica. En 「Lux in Tenebris」 me concentré en atmósferas más oscuras con la ayuda de la orquesta completa. ¡Toda la parte central de la canción es de estilo neogótico con progresiones de acordes muy especiales!
¡Tu estilo musical es hermoso, música clásica como base y excelentes elementos de Rock y Metal! El Goth Metal también tiene influencias dentro del Symphonic Black Metal, ¿te gustaría probar algo con este estilo?
