Season of Ghosts of UK and Japan based Electro-Metal band has released of second full length album, A Leap Of Faith this year 2018.

 

Bio

 

The trance / electronic elements of the Season Of Ghosts sound have, up to this point, been the elephant in the room. Many believe that once a metal band embraces electronics they cease to be metal, or have at the very least diluted their sound. A Leap Of Faith doesn’t shy away from the trance sound, which has become a Sophia trademark, but all the performances on the album are completely organic, including the keyboards. And the auto-tuning of Sophia’s voice that plagued her following her one and only album with Blood Stain Child is nowhere to be found. All the voices on A Leap Of Faith are 100% real and mixed up front on purpose.  All performances are real, including keyboards that were done by Fatal Fe. He programmed some things, but several arpeggiators and keyboards were made piece by piece, constructed from zero.”

 

Sophia feels A Leap Of Faith has the feel of a traditional 4-piece band, a 5-piece if you add Fatal Fe’s invaluable input. There’s no question the Season Of Ghosts dynamic as presented on the The Human Paradox has changed 100%, and ultimately for the better.

The Road so far

 

A very atmospheric beginning with well-defined electronic sequences, leading us to the intro within the first track of the album, a good musical opening.

 

A Place to call Home

 

Excellent Intro full of energy, with a strong drums and well-orchestrated guitars, along with the electronic sequences, Sophie's soft voice gives clarity and strength to the song!

 

Asteroid

 

A faster song to the previous one next to the soft voice of Sophie, strong and forceful those guitars and drums, a very harmonious and strong song the guitar solo at 2 min gives more forcefulness.

 

Listen

 

That set of guitars is very good at the beginning and those electronic combinations give more the melodic and heavy touch, I like the song! Strong without losing speed and continuing with the soft voice of Sophie.

 

A Leap of Faith

 

The song of the name of the album, melodic and a little softer to the previous ones, it is possible to feel the emotion and feeling with which the voice of Sophie manages to transmit to us.

 

How the Story ends

 

An entry with the soft and melodic voice of Sophie and strong guitars along with that powerful drums, harmonious electronic sequences give more shape to each song, fast and forceful the song without a doubt.

 

Almost human

 

A song full of energy and greater emotional feeling, which is perceived from the forceful and fast entry, the voice of Sophie with a little more strength and power, the end with the same harmony and strength.

What a Time to be alive

 

Excellent entry! With more strength and heaviness of guitars, this song is a little faster and darker in sound, the clear part is the soft voice of Sophie!

 

You are not your Pain

 

The last song with a completely different ending, a melancholic piano that opens the final door of this musical journey interpreted by Sophie, totally environmental as well as beginning thus ended.

 

The Remix Listen version

 

It's nice to hear it with this heavier and stronger combination, together with the electronic part that gives it a different style, it reminds me of those good Dance songs from 20 years ago which both the voice and the musical sequence could be heard at a more fast and melodic that made distinction of the current electronic music, like Alexia for example of those times, Alexia is one of my favorite singers in this genre.

 

The Japanese version of A Place to call Home

 

Excellent without a doubt, in the Japanese language you sound very different many of the songs but they have the same effect, the language gives more strength to the song and presence as well as some other languages like in German or Russian, perhaps because of the strongest accent, it is also the native language J of my paternal grandfather.

 

My Recomendation

 

 

"A Leap of Faith" by SEASON OF GHOSTS is a more complete album, in fact deeper in the lyrical content, continuous, I detect and read the lyrics of some of the songs that the message is a self recognition and encounter of oneself, As Sophia interprets it, we can listen to it as something romantic if it is for someone in any case as one wants to interpret it.

 

Musically, "A Leap of Faith" is an album of rock and electro metal combined in a very good way, the songs are simple, fast, somewhat heavy, melodic and with an environmental entrance and end, something that some albums of this genre do not they own it, recorded in Turin, Italy the band sounds very mature and more complete, the music and sound is more serious for this new album, the vocal melodies sound quite good, the beautiful voice of Sophia gives body to all the songs and contagious at all times, backed by a strong guitar crunch plus drums and protagonists throughout the album.

 

Within the songs she talks to herself in the songs as I said before, she encourages it and also looking at her past and appreciating it, she appeals to the people who are close to you and who try to take care of you as a family, like in 'Listen' a song especially for me is that of 'What A Time To Be Alive' is a strong and heavy song at the same time, it questions us about our lifestyles.

 

"A Leap of Faith" is a serious, strong and direct album, the name gives all the meaning to all the work done and gives a summary to the whole album and because not to life itself who listens to it, a leap of faith , 'You do not care what happens, you do not have to give up, it's worth the fight' is the story of someone who finally found himself on the road, we all fail, nobody is perfect but that makes us who we are sincerely.

 

Voices

 

I really like Sophia's position and range of voice! Soft and melodic, all the songs are centered on her voice, notice it? Full of melody and emotion, as in other bands and vocalists like our friend Zuberoa Aznarez, Elize Ryd, Floor Jansen and my muse Sharon den Adel from Within Temptation just to give an example. The running tempo are balanced with the record of Sophia's voice, I would have liked to hear her voice record higher! Or low to hear the harmonies in these notes, the crucial point is that we listen to the vocal range of Sophia, throughout the album without it being lost in the music that accompanies it.

La banda de Electro-Metal de Season of Ghosts de UK y Japón lanzó su segundo álbum de larga duración, A Leap Of Faith, este año 2018.

 

Bio

 

El trance y elementos electrónicos del sonido de Season Of Ghosts han sido, hasta este punto, el elefante en la habitación. Muchos creen que una vez que una banda de metal abarca la electrónica, dejan de ser metal, o al menos han diluido su sonido. A Leap Of Faith no se aleja del sonido de trance, que se ha convertido en una marca registrada de Sophia, pero todos los performance en el álbum son completamente orgánicas, incluidos los teclados. Y el afinamiento de la voz de Sophia que plago después su único álbum con Blood Stain Child no se encuentra en ninguna parte. Todas las voces en A Leap Of Faith son 100% reales y mezcladas de manera intencional. Todas las actuaciones son reales, incluidos los teclados realizados por Fatal Fe. Programó algunas cosas, pero varios arpegiadores y teclados fueron hechos pieza por pieza, construidos desde cero".

 

Sophia siente que A Leap Of Faith tiene la sensación de una banda tradicional de 4 piezas, 5 piezas si agrega la valiosa información de Fatal Fe. No hay duda de que la dinámica de Season Of Ghosts presentada en The Human Paradox ha cambiado al 100%, y en última instancia, mejor.

Un comienzo muy atmosférico con secuencias electrónicas bien definidas, llevándonos hacia el intro dentro de la primera pista del álbum, una buena apertura musical.

 

A Place to call Home

 

Excelente Intro lleno de energía, con una fuerte batería y guitarras bien orquestadas, junto a las secuencias electrónicas, la voz suave de Sophie le da claridad y fuerza a la canción!

 

Asteroid

 

Una canción más rápida a la anterior junto a la suave voz de Sophie, fuerte y contundente esas guitarras y batería, una canción muy armoniosa y fuerte el solo de guitarra a los 2 min le da más contundencia.

 

Listen

 

Ese conjunto de guitarras es muy bueno al inicio y esas combinaciones electrónicas le dan más el toque melódico y pesado, me agrada la canción! Fuerte sin perder la velocidad y continua junto a la suave voz de Sophie.

 

A Leap of Faith

 

La canción del nombre del álbum, melódica y un poco más suave a las anteriores, se logra sentir la emoción y sentimiento con la que la voz de Sophie nos logra trasmitir. 

 

How the Story ends

 

Una entrada con la suave y melódica voz de Sophie y unas fuertes guitarras junto a esa batería potente, las secuencias armoniosas electrónicas dan más forma a cada canción, veloz y contundente la canción sin duda.

 

Almost human

 

Una canción llena de energía y con mayor sensación emocional, el cual se percibe desde la entrada contundente y veloz, la voz de Sophie con un poco de más fuerza y potencia, el final con la misma sintonía y fuerza.

What a Time to be alive

 

Excelente entrada! Con más fuerza y pesadez de guitarras, esta canción es un poco más rápida y más oscura en sonido, la parte clara es la suave voz de Sophie!

You are not your Pain

 

La última canción con un final completamente distinto, un piano melancólico que nos abre la puerta final de esta travesía musical interpretada por Sophie, totalmente ambiental asi como inicio asi finalizo.

Es grato escucharla con esta combinación más pesada y fuerte, junto  a la parte electrónica que le da un estilo diferente, me recuerda a esos buenas canciones de Dance de hace 20 años el cual se escuchaba tanto la voz como la secuencia musical a un ritmo más veloz y melódico que hacían distinción de la actual música electrónica, como Alexia por ejemplo de aquellos tiempos, Alexia es una de mis cantantes favoritas dentro de este género.

 

La versión Japonesa de A Place to call Home

 

Excelente sin duda, en el idioma japonés suenas muy distintas muchas de las canciones pero tienen el mismo efecto, el idioma le da más fuerza a la canción y presencia asi como algunos otros idiomas como en alemán o ruso, quizás por el acento más fuerte, además es el idioma natal J de mi abuelo paterno.

Mi Recomendación

 

 

“A Leap of Faith” de SEASON OF GHOSTS es un álbum más completo, de hecho más profundo en el contenido lirico, continuo, detecto y leo la letra de algunas de las canciones que el mensaje es un auto reconocimiento y encuentro de uno mismo, asi como lo interpreta Sophia, eso lo podemos escuchar como algo romántico si es para alguien en dado caso como uno lo quiera interpretar.

 

Musicalmente, "A Leap of Faith" es un álbum de rock y electro metal combinados de una muy buena forma, las canciones son sencillas, rápidas, algo pesadas, melódicas y con una entrada y final ambiental, cosa que algunos albums de este género no lo poseen, grabado en Turín, Italia la banda suena muy madura y más completa, la música y sonido es más seria para este nuevo álbum, las melodías vocales suenan bastante bien, la hermosa voz de Sophia le da cuerpo a todas las canciones y contagiosas en todo momento, respaldadas por un crujido de guitarra fuerte más la batería y protagonistas en todo el álbum.

 

Dentro de las canciones se habla a sí misma en las canciones como lo dije anteriormente, lo alienta y también mirando su pasado  y a valorarlo, se hace un llamamiento a las personas que están cerca de ti y que tratan de cuidarte como a una familia, como en ‘Listen’ una canción en especial para mi es la de 'What A Time To Be Alive' es una canción fuerte y pesada a la vez, nos cuestiona sobre nuestros estilos de vida.

 

 “A Leap of Faith” es un álbum serio, fuerte y directo, el nombre le da todo el significado a todo el trabajo realizado y da un resumen a todo el álbum y porque no a la vida misma quien lo escucha, un salto de fe, ‘No te importando lo que suceda, no hay que rendirse vale la pena la pelea’ es la historia de alguien que finalmente se encontró a sí mismo durante el camino, todos fallamos nadie es perfecto pero eso nos hace ser quienes somos sinceramente.

 

Voces

 

Me agrado bastante la tesitura y rango de voz de Sophia! Suave y melódica, todas las canciones están centradas en su voz si lo notan?  Llenas de melodía y emoción, como en otras bandas y vocalistas como nuestra amiga Zuberoa Aznarez, Elize Ryd, Floor Jansen y mi musa Sharon den Adel de Within Temptation solo por poner un ejemplo. El tempo en ejecución están equilibrados con el registro de la voz de Sophia, me hubiera gustado escuchar su registro de voz más alto! O bajo para escuchar las armonías en estas notas, el punto crucial es que escuchamos el rango vocal de Sophia, en todo el álbum sin que esta se pierda dentro de la música que la acompaña.
