The mystical world of Avaland returns in 2023 with the fantasy symphonic power metal band's sophomore full-length "The Legend of the Storyteller" This 2023 via Rockshots Records following their 2021 debut "Theater of Sorcery".

 

Lead by Adrien G. Gzagg (Autor/Composer/Lead Singer/Synths and Orchestrations), the album's storyline is aprequel to the band's first album "Theater of Sorcery" as he explains further:

 

"This album, as the first one, is a journey, a trip out of our world, into the universe of Avaland. We enjoy seeing Avaland as a great saga, as a movie, or series. We feel like listening to Avaland is like watching Game Of Thrones, The Lord Of The Rings, or reading comics, it’s an escape from everyday life. For this album, we took a lot of inspiration from Game Of Thrones and Arthurian Myths. We love fantasy and mythologies and we also find ourselves having a great fascination for alchemy and esoterism. Time is also a great subject, it's mystical… in fact, time will be at the center of this saga. This new opus is showing a heavier and darker atmosphere of Avaland’s theatrical universe. Are you ready to be part of “The Legend Of The Storyteller”?"

My Recomendation

 

Like every Power Symphonic Metal album, it starts in an ambient, instrumental and narrative way where the Opera Metal part is present as a prelude and overture on the theme to be displayed, now with Crimson Tyranny, with a symphonic power metal followed by an orchestration melodica, forceful riffs, strong guitars and in a single line and a powerful rhythm section, certain folkloric air, with strong melodies creating an epic sensation in the choruses with male choral voices, with Insurrection opening in a more modern and fresh way with the symphonic and power metal takes a little background and have a more current style with that funk-like rock in fact the bass line is heard suddenly and there are certain catchy passages, with To Be The King K it begins with keyboards and piano, especially keeps that modern and melodic style with choirs, mixed male vocals, a more modern true Opera Metal with some pop hooks and good guitar solos, in Secret Night, we have the medieval folk ballad with strings and flute and multiple vocalists in chorus, in Kingslayer the song itself is catchy and with a style of eighties rock rather than power metal with slower rhythm and tempos and something long, it almost only accompanies the guitar and drums, in The Gift stronger in those chords, forcefulness and with that air folk something different like from the Middle East, and so on, even Lies, which is the longest song in duration with an epic closing and with a ballad style, also has good passages, especially in the parts between those medium tempos, it is a power song with which they close well and by singing it in French and which leaves a good ending for the album.

 

It is a good album with that characteristic Symphonic/Opera/Power Metal perhaps it reminds us of Tobias Samet in Avantasia and in the musical parts with rock pop hooks in the style of the British band Queen and Kamelot with those modern parts mixed with the symphonic part in mostly male choirs.

El mundo místico de Avaland regresa en 2023 con el segundo álbum de estudio de la banda de power metal sinfónico de fantasía "The Legend of the Storyteller" este 2023 a través de Rockshots Records después de su debut en 2021 "Theater of Sorcery".

 

Dirigido por Adrien G. Gzagg (autor/compositor/cantante principal/sintetizadores y orquestaciones), la historia del álbum es una precuela del primer álbum de la banda, "Theater of Sorcery", como explica con más detalle:

 

"Este álbum, como el primero, es un viaje, un viaje fuera de nuestro mundo, al universo de Avaland. Disfrutamos viendo a Avaland como una gran saga, como una película o serie. Sentimos que escuchar a Avaland es como ver Juego de tronos, El señor de los anillos o leer cómics, es un escape de la vida cotidiana. Para este álbum, nos inspiramos mucho en Juego de tronos y los mitos artúricos. Nos encanta la fantasía y las mitologías y también nos encontramos a nosotros mismos. teniendo una gran fascinación por la alquimia y el esoterismo. El tiempo también es un gran tema, es místico... de hecho, el tiempo estará en el centro de esta saga. Mi Recomendación

 

Como todo album de Power Symphonic Metal arranca de manera ambiental, instrumental y narrativa donde la parte de Opera Metal se hace presente como un preludio y obertura sobre la temática a desplegar, ahora con Crimson Tyranny, con un power metal sinfónico a continuación con una orquestación melódica, riffs contundentes, guitarras fuertes y en una sola línea y una poderosa sección rítmica, cierto aire folklórico , con melodías fuertes creando una sensación épica en los coros con voces corales masculinos, con Insurrection abriendo de manera más moderna y fresca con la sinfónica y el power metal pasan un poco segundo plano y tienen un estilo más actual con ese rock tipo funk de hecho la línea de bajo se escucha de repente  y hay ciertos pasajes pegadizos, con To Be The King K está  comienza con teclados y piano, sobre todo mantiene ese estilo moderno y melódico con coros, voces masculinas mezcladas, una verdadera Opera Metal más moderna con ciertos ganchos pop y solos de guitarras buenos, en Secret Night, tenemos la balada medieval folk con cuerdas y flauta y múltiples vocalistas en coro, en Kingslayer la canción en sí es pegadiza y con un estilo de rock ochentero más que de power metal con ritmo y tempos más lentos y algo largo, casi solo acompaña la guitarra y batería, en The Gift más fuerte en esos acordes, contundencia y con ese aire folk algo distinto como de medio oriente, y así hasta Lies la cual es la canción más larga en duración con un cierre épico y con un estilo de balada también tiene buenos pasajes sobre todo en las partes de entre esos medios tempos, es un tema power con el que cierran bien y al cantarlo en francés y que deja un buen final para el albúm.

 

Es un buen albúm con ese Symphonic/Opera/Power Metal característico quizás nos recuerda a Tobias Samet en Avantasia y en las partes musicales con ganchos rock pop al estilo de la banda británica de Queen y a Kamelot con esas partes modernas mezcladas con la parte sinfónica en coros en su mayoría masculinos.
