Edge of Paradise founding members, vocalist/pianist Margarita Monet and guitarist Dave Bates, have found their perfect crew, with drummer Jamie Moreno, rhythm guitarist David Ruiz and bassist Kenny Lockwood. With US, Europe and Japan tours under their belts, the band, transports fans to a new dimension of massive sound and visually stunning, futuristic show!

In 2023, Edge of Paradise highly anticipated new album, Hologram, with a heavier and monumental sound, takes you right into the face of danger and tells the story of pursuit, sacrifice and perseverance against all cosmic odds, uncovering the key to build a new reality.

Hi Margarita! How have you been!!!! Thank you very much for having this opportunity again!

Margarita:

Hello! I’ve been good, thank you so much for having me again, it’s always such a pleasure!

How were the last months of 2023 after your release of Hologram album?

Margarita:

They’ve been really good, we’ve had a busy touring schedule. Since the release of Hologram we did a USA tour with Lacuna Coil and then USA/Canada tour with Dragonforce and Amaranthe. Those were such amazing tours to be a part of, the energy of the crowds really inspired us and now we’re ready to release a new single, coming out April 9th! Right when we head out on our first tour of 2024, USA/Canada tour with Firewind!

The Life After Death Fest in México City did not take place, what did my friend tell you about this? Did they tell you about this problem before? When can you come to México City for an event?

Margarita:

We were so sad that Life After Death Fest didn’t happen. We’ve been wanting to come to Mexico for years! But sometime these things are beyond our control. I think there wasn’t enough time for the festival organizers to prepare for the event, I know they’ve changed the location pretty close to when it was supposed to take place.

But we’ll definitely be back soon, we have a lot of touring plans in the works, so we’re excited to finally share the music life with the awesome rock and metal fans of Mexico!

Tell us about what Margarita has in mind for 2024? In these coming months.

Margarita:

Well we just released a brand new song and music video, Rogue (Aim for the Kill). We signed to Napalm and it’s our debut release with them, so we’re really excited!

I’m also happy to say I just released a graphic novel, Hologram and Slaves to Forever. inspired by our previous albums. I’ve been working on it over the past year, so it’s been really cool to finally share the story and the art! Over the year I made a painting inspired by each song on the album, that people own the original canvas art of. So those pieces take you through the storyline, with some additional artworks and I was lucky to have some amazing contributions from Christopher Walter Wanzie (Dresden7), Thorsten Berger (Valtyr) and David Ribble (Art from the Aether)!

You have quite a few shows in the USA, especially accompanied by Firewind and Immortal Guardian! What will that combination of talents be like? Tell us a little about it?

Margarita:

We just left on tour, heading to New Jersey where the first show is! It’s going to be an epic night of rock and metal! :)

Immortal Guardian bring the progressive element, starting off the night high energy!

With us, it’s a blend of cinematic, industrial rock. We have a visual element to the show, that will immerse the audience into our world.

And ending the night, we have Firewind, they bring the power, classic metal, with raging guitar solos from Gus G! :) This tour has a bit of everything for rock and metal fans!

I see that you have only released the videos for "Hologram", "Soldiers of Danger", "Basilisk" and THE FACELESS, from your album Hologram, which of all those songs do you like the most? Will you release another new video?

Margarita:

Yes, the full on music videos for that album were Hologram and Basilisk. I really wish we could have done more, but we had some not so pleasant dealings on the business end, so unfortunately we weren’t able to create more videos. But we got to do amazing tours and recorded two brand new songs that now landed us on Napalm Records! But the story continues and with every video I want to keep expanding it so one day we can create a full, epic sci fi film! ;)

Are there any tours outside the USA? For this year?

Margarita:

It’s definitely in the plans, probably in the late summer/fall. When we get back from the US tour, we’re going to be working on our next album, and when that’s done, we’ll get back to touring! Definitely need to get back to EU, bring the band to South America, and get back to Japan!

Is Margarita thinking about another single or perhaps a new song for the next album?

Margarita:

Always! I already have the continuing themes for the next album, we have two songs done, one of them is “Rogue”. I have a feeling the next album will be our most epic one to date, stakes are high, adventure is in full swing, and the mission continues!

Why not make an album or EP of some interesting covers? Are there any songs, styles or bands that you currently like the most? Or some Rock/Metal from past decades?

Margarita:

We’ve done quiet a few covers in the past, most recent ones were Disarm (Smashing Pumpkins). Love Reign O’er Me (The Who) and Welcome to the Jungle (Guns and Roses). We usually do these in between album releases, so maybe we’ll make another one again soon and one day, package them all into an EP. But at the moment, we gotta follow where the original music leads us!

What else does our Margarita want to share with us about her music with Edge of Paradise band, it is a mix of modern and very electronic sounds and styles, and that is great! Will there be any change in this musical line or will you continue to surprise us my friend?

Margarita:

Thank you! What I can say is with each album, there is an evolution! It’s hard to predict where the music leads us, but what I can say is that it’s going to be powerful, heavy, thought provoking and take you on a thrilling adventure through our world!
