In 2022, Noémie and Adrien read the manga Berserk together and they came with the idea of a Power Metal EP paying tribute to the work of Kentaro Miura. The EP "From Midland And Beyond" was born. It was released in December 2022 via Wormhole Death only in digital and has been well received by the critics.

2023 is a calm year for the duo but they have in mind to create their first album and put a band together to play live. They release a tribute single to the game Lost in Random in December 2023 called "Roll The Dice". At that time Noemie expresses the desire for Adrien to compose music for her voice on her own lyrics. She also writes lyrics about more personal themes like Alchemy, Magic and instrospection. Adrien wrote the music for the song "As Above, So Below" and they recorded right away. The new dynamic lead to the first album. It would be called "As Above, So Below" and it would be a concept album about Alchemy and Magic.

They asked to Adrien Guingal to become an official guitarist for the band and he accepted. Adrien D. and Noémie respectively composed and wrote the album in two weeks and they recorded it all together with Adrien G. within three weeks. Now the band is preparing to play live.

Hello! Noemie Thank you very much for having this interview with you! Tell us about your band HARTLIGHT! What concept and musical inspiration was it born from?

Noémie Marie (vocals, lyrics):

We seek to share with people the power of human evolution through psychological, philosophical and mystical statements, including alchemy and esoterism and the beauty of musical craftsmanship that sets the stage for introspection and spontaneous intuition.

These themes inspire melancholic gothic atmospheres, contemplation of the poetic mystery, and the natural cycle of literal or psychological life and death. The evolution of thoughts and emotions can take time to unfold in music, perhaps as an interpretation of our progressive influences. It's a way of expressing what we want to say with a rich diversity of sounds, textures and rhythms. Djent riffs, power and heavy refrains, orchestral instrumentations and ethnic instruments allow us to exult in all facets of what we love about metal and what we go through in our lyrics.

Who are the current members of the band?

Noémie Marie:

Adrien Djouadou ensures the composition, the production, one of the two guitars, the text in "The Garden in the Heart" and the counter-tenor voice in "All Life Begins in the Dark". Adrien Guigal provides one of the two guitars and the composition of his solos. We are pleased to welcome Guillaume Remih as a drummer. He replaces Pierre D'Astora who went to the French countryside to practice the Magnus Opus. ^^

What musical influences do they have? I know it's Symphonic Metal and Power Metal, but does it have any different musical styles?

Noémie Marie:

Adrien Djouadou is influenced by Dream Theater, Iron Maiden, Classical and Baroque Music, Dir En Grey, Cradle of Filth among many other bands and also I insisted that the lyrics that I write are the main influence. Adrien Guingal is mainly influenced by Dream Theater and Children of Bodom and Guillaume Remih by Hans Zimmer and Linkin Park.

The questions that every fan likes to know!

Your musical influences? Any guilty taste?

Noémie Marie:

I like the luminous and virtuoso progressive of Transaltantic, the symphonic arrangements of Carach Angren and Epica, the exceptional voice and energy of Iron Maiden, the ethnic instruments in The Hu, and it’s true that I am passionate about great voices like Dio, Eric Adams, Kyo from Dir En Grey, or Noora Louhimo from Battle Beast !

It is not a guilty pleasure for me but Céline Dion in the French variety has my respect and bring me joy since childhood !

Do you have a favorite vocalist?

Noémie Marie:

I think it would be Bruce Dickinson in the heavy metal style.

Do you have any other musical band?

Noémie Marie:

I play bass and do some vocals in Knights of Heliopolis.

Your taste for Metal when it started and who was your inspiration?

Noémie Marie:

I got into it late, when I met Adrien Djouadou. He showed me the beauty of this music and the vast emotional possibilities that this style allowed. I got there by the beauty of the voices. And my ear was trained as for opera.

Tell us about your EP and previous singles! Was it difficult to compose the songs, the lyrics? There is a lot of mystique in your compositions

Noémie Marie:

The EP was about Berserk, a breathtaking manga written by Kentaro Miura which is a real honest and fair healing path, which I recommend but beware, it's not for sensitive souls. The texts came by themselves, with great evidence. This mystical facet is natural in my creative process and leads me to find the words that ring “eternal” in my universe. I let myself be inspired by intending to write something beautiful, fair and true. It was kind of the same for the music.

I've read the reviews about your new album! You are doing very well! Is it a continuous album in musical style or story between songs?

Noémie Marie:

Thank you so much ! Yes I am very happy and grateful to the people who appreciate our music ! It's a concept album around alchemical concepts and the tarot path. The songs can change order, they question and answer each other.

Any releases coming soon about your new album, like any new videos?

Noémie Marie:

There will be a lyric video for each song, shorts on all platforms by all band members and we are planning a music video.

Do you have any dates for a presentation?

Noémie Marie:

We haven't started looking for dates, but it will happen very quickly.

Do you have something in mind for this year? And with your band?

Noémie Marie:

I want to do concerts, make a music video, why not release a single on an iconic game, because we are all fans of souls like among other things.

We have a magnificent art that is little recognized globally, but we have a unique freedom of expression to shout about !
