Scarleth is remarkable and experienced Ukrainian metal band playing music on joint of modern heaviness and diverse melodism. For the time being the band has played several hundreds of live shows, released three full-length albums worldwide. Band’s style is expanding constantly and represents mind-blowing mixture of many melodic genres – from power, folk, doom, gothic metal to modern/progressive.
Greetings Ekaterina!! Welcome! Happy New Year! How are you?
Ekaterina:
Happy New Year, friends! It hasn't been the best year, to be honest… But what can you do with such neighbors?
Darkzen:
Yes it is difficult my friend, I understand.
Tell us about your band and you right now?
Ekaterina:
After a significant pause, we all gathered and decided that we needed to bring some light to the darkness through art and music. Music is healing, art is healing. It is essential to continue doing everyday things to remain sane, you know? Some of us opted for a safer place than Ukraine to live temporarily. However, we're still united as a band, even across the kilometers. For instance, our keyboardist Yana is currently in Switzerland, but she made visits to record with us and participate in the shooting of the new music video. Of course, for any musician, these are challenging times. You can't just write and create something fun and simple anymore. Every day brings more fear and devastating news since the full invasion, so when you think about something bright, you think about our victory first.
Darkzen:
Music on this occasion, as well as on other occasions, is the best way for this!
How has the production of your new song been, with the problems that still persist in the country?
Ekaterina:
We had no troubles with the production of the song. We were so hungry to make art; you can't even imagine. In the first year, we were scared, disoriented, and lost. But when we accepted the situation and everybody started to do something to help, we gathered in Kyiv again and created this special song. We poured all our reflections on war, mostly people's feelings. Since the song was born, there have been no troubles with production. I don't know why; it was just a happy coincidence that everything went smoothly.
Tell us about the message of this new single? Коли Прийде День, sounds great! Heavy chords and your charming voice.
Ekaterina:
Thank you! This song is for every Ukrainian and about every Ukrainian. It is dedicated to those who fight, to those who lost their home or family, to those who left home and feel guilty about it, to those who miss their close ones so badly, to those who are in hurt and pain. We wanted to write something that would speak for Ukrainians with mixed feelings about war, combining sorrow, pain, guilt, and grief. We aim to guide them through these negative emotions, making them feel that it's okay to experience these feelings – okay to be upset, and allowed to cry and grieve. However, what we need to hold onto is hope.
Well with this situation still in Ukraine, I really hope it stops! How complicated has it been to record or produce this new single?
Ekaterina:
People continue to live, work, do regular things, and volunteer. The studio was located underground; we had a great time, and the work was perfect, clean, and fast. We've been missing it for a long time. However, when you live on the left side of the Dnipro River (in Kyiv), it's always hard to reach the right part during an alert, and can be dangerous. But exactly on that day, we had no alerts, and everything went smoothly.
Are you in the process of recording a new album? With this release of this new single
Ekaterina:
We have a lot of raw material that needs to be polished, organized, and reworked. You know, we are not the same as we were before the full invasion, so some songs may never see the world. But we will try hard to make the best of it, I promise. Right now, we have a lot of changes within us as a band and as people. One day we will break the silence with something big and new, but making music takes much more time and strength right now.
Anything else you want to share with us my friend?
Ekaterina:
I have a lot to say to the world. Just wake up, come on, look at us. Sometimes I feel like we are locked in a movie "Don't Look Up." People tend to avoid the war theme; Meta keeps hiding us as sensitive content, which makes us feel unseen and unheard. Yes, IT IS sensitive, but this is our lives, our terrible reality, and we're screaming about it loudly. Support Ukraine, my friends. Show us that we are still visible. Don't turn your head. Look into our eyes, talk to us, support our people. We really need this. And thanks to everyone who makes us feel seen and heard. Many thanks to foreign volunteers and donors. We appreciate you all.

Scarleth es una notable y experimentada banda de metal ucraniana que toca música con una combinación de pesadez moderna y melodismo diverso. Hasta el momento, la banda ha realizado varios cientos de shows en vivo y ha lanzado tres álbumes completos en todo el mundo. ¡Feliz Año Nuevo amigos! No ha sido el mejor año, para ser honesta… ¿Pero qué se puede hacer con vecinos así?
Darkzen:
Si es difícil mi amiga, comprendo.
¿Cuéntanos sobre tu banda y sobre ti ahora mismo?
Ekaterina:
Después de una pausa significativa, todos nos reunimos y decidimos que necesitábamos traer algo de luz a la oscuridad a través del arte y la música. La música cura, el arte cura. Es fundamental seguir haciendo las cosas cotidianas para mantener la cordura, ¿sabes? Algunos de nosotros optamos por un lugar más seguro que Ucrania para vivir temporalmente. Sin embargo, como banda seguimos unidos, incluso a través de los kilómetros. Por ejemplo, nuestra tecladista Yana se encuentra actualmente en Suiza, pero nos visitó para grabar con nosotros y participar en la filmación del nuevo video musical. Por supuesto, para cualquier músico, estos son tiempos difíciles. Ya no puedes simplemente escribir y crear algo divertido y simple. ¿Cómo ha sido la producción de tu nuevo tema, con los problemas que aún persisten en el país?
Ekaterina:
No tuvimos problemas con la producción de la canción. Teníamos tanta hambre de hacer arte; Ni siquiera puedes imaginarlo. El primer año estábamos asustados, desorientados y perdidos. Pero cuando aceptamos la situación y todos empezaron a hacer algo para ayudar, nos reunimos nuevamente en Kiev y creamos esta canción especial. Volcamos todas nuestras reflexiones sobre la guerra, principalmente los sentimientos de la gente. Desde que nació la canción, no ha habido problemas con la producción. No sé por qué; Fue sólo una feliz coincidencia que todo saliera bien.

Ekaterina:
¡Gracias! Esta canción es para todos los ucranianos y sobre todos los ucranianos. Está dedicado a quienes luchan, a quienes perdieron su hogar o familia, a quienes dejaron su hogar y se sienten culpables por ello, a quienes extrañan tanto a sus seres queridos, a quienes están heridos y doloridos. Queríamos escribir algo que hablara por los ucranianos con sentimientos encontrados sobre la guerra, combinando tristeza, dolor, culpa y pena. Nuestro objetivo es guiarlos a través de estas emociones negativas, haciéndoles sentir que está bien experimentar estos sentimientos, que está bien enojarse y permitirse llorar y lamentarse. Sin embargo, a lo que debemos aferrarnos es a la esperanza.
Bueno, con esta situación todavía en Ucrania, ¡realmente espero que se detenga! ¿Qué tan complicado ha sido grabar o producir este nuevo sencillo?
Ekaterina:
La gente continúa viviendo, trabajando, haciendo cosas habituales y siendo voluntaria. El estudio estaba ubicado bajo tierra; Nos lo pasamos genial y el trabajo fue perfecto, limpio y rápido. Lo hemos estado extrañando durante mucho tiempo. Ekaterina:
Tenemos mucha materia prima que hay que pulir, organizar y reelaborar. Ya sabes, no somos los mismos que éramos antes de la invasión total, por lo que es posible que algunas canciones nunca vean el mundo. Pero nos esforzaremos para sacar lo mejor de ello, lo prometo. Ahora mismo tenemos muchos cambios dentro de nosotros como banda y como personas. Un día romperemos el silencio con algo grande y nuevo, pero hacer música requiere mucho más tiempo y fuerza ahora mismo.
¿Algo más que quieras compartir con nosotros mi amiga?
Ekaterina:
Tengo mucho que decir al mundo. Sólo despierta, vamos, míranos. A veces siento que estamos encerrados en una película "No mires hacia arriba". La gente tiende a evitar el tema de la guerra; Meta sigue ocultándonos como contenido sensible, lo que nos hace sentir invisibles y escuchados. Sí, ES sensible, pero así es nuestra vida, nuestra terrible realidad, y lo gritamos a gritos. Apoyen a Ucrania, amigos míos. Muéstranos que todavía somos visibles. No vuelvas la cabeza. Míranos a los ojos, háblanos, apoya a nuestra gente. Realmente necesitamos esto. Y gracias a todos los que nos hacen sentir vistos y escuchados.
