Susanna Coltrè

Entropy Coding band!

The Interview!!

By Darkzen

26/08/2018

Born in 2015, Entropy Coding is a band created by the keyboardist and main composer Susanna Coltrè. The main purpose of this project is to reinterpret in a new way the symphonic metal genre, using prog and power metal elements with innovative voices.

Hello Susanna! Thank you very much for this interview!

Tell us a little about your musical career Susanna?

I started playing piano when I was 9, studying classic music. But growing up, I started to appreciate metal, listening to different bands as System of a Down, Nightwish, Dream Theater. So I started to play keyboard and I tried to learn more from these amazing musicians. I changed a lot of bands, but I never found the one for me, so I started to think that maybe I have to create a brand new one where I finally had the chance to write something....and that’s how Entropy Coding was born.

How was the formation of the band Entropy Coding?

I started on my own, creating some keyboards and orchestral arrangements. But I realized that I needed someone to collaborate with. So I called some musicians, specialized in different genres.

You are a Keyboardist and Pianist, what is the form or inspiration in which you compose?

I created my own world, made of fantasy, sadness, darkness and sometimes nightmares. My emotions are my inspirations for writing songs, I take every piece of my life, emphatize it and evolve it in something more.

Did you write the songs of 'Tale of Moon'? Where did you get the idea for some songs?

Yes, I did it. I imagined a love story between the Moon and the Sun, divided by the creation of Earth. It’s a romantic and dramatic story, so I tried to tell their adventures and their feelings until the Eclipse.

How was the production of your debut album 'Tales of the Moon'?

The magnificent production behind the album was realized by the producer Gianmarco Bellumori. He created an amazing and unique sound for this album.

I hear that there are other invited vocalists and many musicians with excellent talent, their symphonic metal has strength and progressive influences, I like it! How was working with many musicians?

Yes, I’ve collaborated with 10 musicians: Emiliano Cantiano as Drummer, the bassist Leonardo Barcaroli, Melania Petrillo and Giovanni Saulini as Singers, Filippo Rosati, Fabrizio Proietti, Cristiano Neila, Vlad Voicu, Davide Catania, Danilo Carrabino as Guitarists. It was amazing, because everytime that I’ve worked with one of them, I and Gianmarco Bellumori found a new inspiration for production. It was a little bit hard because you don’t know if all these influences could be well mixed together...but we did it! It was a beautiful experiment and I had the chance to learn a lot from all the musicians.

Tell us how are you in these moments ¿What are your plans for this year and your band?

At the moment, I’m preparing for our gigs. We want to finally start our live activity and bring Entropy Coding all over the world.

The title of your debut album, because that name?

The Moon is my main character.  Tales of The Moon is composed by 9 stories, each one inspired by the relation between the Moon, the Sun and humans: for example, some stories are focused on werewolves, fears and darkness.

What other style within the metal would you like to show and why? Or just Symphonic / Progressive Metal?

I’d like to bring some new elements from djent and opera music, creating futuristic atmosphere mixed with classical music.

What will be the next video your debut album?

Actually we are not working on a new video for now.

Anything else you want to share with us?

Susanna Coltrè

Entropy Coding band!

La Entrevista!!

Por Darkzen

26/08/2018
